Abstract: Mark Twain a famous American novelist and satirist changed his writing style from humor to bitter satire with the development of the society and his understanding of it. The characters in his novels help us see clearly the ugly phenomena of present American society. This paper studies the novels in his different periods to reflect the social phenomena. Finally we can conclude that the all kinds of social phenomenon in fact are the true portraiture in our lives.
